ELIZABETH EVANS:

Third Grade Teacher

Elizabeth’s experience with diverse groups of children has highlighted for her the universal development processes in children regardless of their differential experiences. Working with third graders, she and her students have formed each other through song and dance, crayon forms and cursive letters, doubt and confidence, relationships, discord and harmony.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources & the Environment, Wildlife Conservation Concentration. University of Connecticut – College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, CT
  • Waldorf Education Certificate, MEd Candidate. Antioch University New England, NH
  • Waldorf Teacher Training. Center for Anthroposophy, Wilton, NH

Growing up on the Connecticut shoreline, Elizabeth attended the town public schools and discovered life on the beaches, in backyards and on the town green. Her family holiday and seasonal traditions included attention and details reminiscent of the Waldorf practices of lighting candles, and daily songs and verses. Elizabeth’s love for children and the desire to prepare them to better our world brought her to nature-based environmental education.

Since graduating, she has worked in Colorado and New England as a nanny, ski instructor and environmental educator with children ages 3 to 15. As an environmental educator, Elizabeth worked with a range of populations from New York City to rural Maine, from education backgrounds in home school, public and private systems. Her experience with diverse groups of children has highlighted for her the universal development processes in children regardless of their differential experiences. Throughout her Waldorf teacher training at Antioch University and two summers at the Center for Anthroposophy, Elizabeth enjoyed the thrill of inspiration. Working with third graders, she and her students have formed each other through song and dance, crayon forms and cursive letters, doubt and confidence, relationships, discord and harmony.

Elizabeth is delighted to finally be back in Boulder. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys outdoor living and exploration, music making and all the living things growing in the garden!
