Gussie Gertge

Gussie began her Waldorf journey as a kindergarten student at BVWS. Her experience there propelled her all the way through high school and into her Waldorf teacher training. As a Waldorf “lifer,” Gussie believes that her experience as both a student and educator has cultivated her unique perspective. Gussie loves nurturing the exceptional potential in every individual. She believes in Waldorf education and its ability to meet the child in body, mind, and spirit. She is passionate about early childhood education, and understands healthy development in the early years sets the foundation for a creative, kind, and actualized life.

Most recently, Gussie has been teaching in New Zealand, where she worked to create place-based programs that married the indigenous Māori worldview with Waldorf perspectives. Through this, she found a deep love of building strong relationships with children and their families and working together to create curriculum that helps children flourish. Gussie’s greatest desire is to create an environment where a culture of care comes naturally, and all children feel a sense of belonging and safety. Patient, grounded, and compassionate, Gussie is committed to working with families to create an environment that meets the needs of the diverse children in her care.
