Originally from New York state, Rebecca moved out west to attend UC Santa Cruz, where she found a home by the sea and the redwoods. Following her love for the healing arts, she became a massage therapist and received an MA in Somatic Psychotherapy from Naropa University. For 20 years, Rebecca offered massage therapy and body-centered psychotherapy in private practice. After her daughter was born, she began learning about Waldorf education, and their family moved to Paonia, CO, where they helped pioneer North Fork School of Integrated Studies. Rebecca’s interest in becoming a Waldorf teacher was sparked! She homeschooled her daughter for first grade. Then Rebecca enrolled in Waldorf teacher training with Gradalis and taught a homeschool class in a little red barn in Golden, CO.
Now a certified Waldorf teacher, Rebecca is thrilled to teach at BVWS. When students begin the third grade, they look at the world with new eyes, perceiving the world around them from an expanding perspective. Rebecca is excited to expand her capacities teaching, looking to integrate new verses, poems, songs and stories that begin the study of different ancient civilizations around the world as well as integrating many practical activities of shelter, clothing and farming. Rebecca loves inspiring children’s imaginations through art, music and storytelling, igniting a love of learning. Rebecca enjoys hiking in the mountains, cooking, knitting, playing the pennywhistle and spending time with her family.
