Kyler Ruane – 6th Grade Teacher 2025-26

Kyler is an experienced middle school teacher who is returning to the US after many years of Waldorf teaching abroad in Asia. He completed his Waldorf teacher training at the Center for Anthroposophy in New Hampshire. He has further training and experience at both the middle and high school level. In a Waldorf school in Myanmar, Kyler taught for four years, as a 6-8th Class teacher. There, in additional to all the main lesson literacy, math, social studies and science, he also taught subjects like games and arts for younger students.

Kyler is passionate about Waldorf Education. He loves working in small flexible schools and is thrilled to be joining the middle school team at BVWS for the upcoming school year. He enjoys the diversity of the Waldorf Class teacher’s responsibilities. He particularly enjoys bringing his experience writing and poetry writing, leading songs, guitar, recorder, painting, clay, woodwork, science projects, and theatre productions. He believes deeply in an integrated and holistic manner of education. Kyler began his teaching career as a substitute teacher at both Waldorf and state schools. He and is particularly drawn to educating the adolescent student.

In his most recent position in an International School in Cambodia, Kyler taught English for the combined 4th and 5th grade class, as well as instructing English and Science Main Lessons for 8th graders. He was specifically brought on to lead the Summer Camp program, which involved a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for 3rd-8th grade students. Kyler learned how to bring successful Waldorf practice into the lives of children from very different cultures. In his free time, Kyler also enjoys basic carpentry, writing and playing tennis.
