Boulder Valley Waldorf School is pleased to announce the addition of our new Community Liaison, Brenda Bickerton. Brenda’s role in the upcoming Fall and Spring will be helping families get involved with, and feel appreciated by, our school community. She’ll be coordinating with the Parent Association, class communities, and assisting with volunteering and projects. Brenda is eager to meet everyone and learn as much as possible about our beautiful school!
A little about Brenda: “I’m 31 years old and grew up in Aurora, Colorado. I’m passionate about art and design, and I’m currently enrolled in the Architecture and Interior Design program at Front Range Community College. I’ve been serving Boulder colleges in various Human Resources and Pandemic Response roles for the past 2 years, and I’m excited to expand that scope and serve the children of Boulder, as well!”
The Fall 2022 school year is a chance for a renaissance. After 2 years of difficult adjustments and sacrifices, we’re emerging into an exciting time for our school. As partners in building a healthy school community, we have a chance to reevaluate and rebuild the vision we have for our families, and for our children. Now is the perfect time to ask ourselves–what do we want from our school, and what can we give?
“I feel a firmer trust–a higher hope
Rise in my soul–it dawns with dawning day…”
– Charlotte Bronte
We have so many fun and engaging things planned this year! Between new parents and parents who were unable to be as involved as they wanted because of the pandemic, there’s already so much enthusiasm for getting involved in our school. Back-to-school activities are right around the corner–here’s what we have to look forward to before the school year even begins:
- Parent Workday/Classroom Set Up – come meet other families and help get the classrooms ready before fall! Your child’s teacher will have specifics for this event, so keep an eye out for an email from them starting in August.
- New Parent Welcome – if your family is new to BVWS since the pandemic, we encourage you to come to Orientation to have lunch with us, socialize, and have a Q&A with our school leadership.
You can read more about Fall events here. There’s even more exciting things on the horizon:
- New playground equipment – read more about this innovative play structure here.
- Outdoor Middle School Lounge
- Library Rejuvenation
- Yearbook Pages
- Rotating Community Art displays
- Parent Association community and projects
- and much more to be added!
The first weeks of school will be a time for you and your child to get to know classmates and teachers and to deeply connect with the experience of education at Boulder Valley Waldorf School. There will be a back-to-school ceremony and Tuesday Teas to start to get connected with other parents. You will also meet with your class teacher and other class parents and form your class networks at those first Parent Evenings scheduled for your class. You can view the entire school calender here.
Parent involvement in school activities energizes and nourishes the health of the school. Your participation matters in so many ways. We thrive when our community of parents, teachers, and friends help accomplish the many tasks that are a part of maintaining our beautiful school. As a result, everyone benefits in ways both tangible and intangible: Waldorf education is made available to the children of Boulder, tuition can be kept lower, and parents find a warm community life where their skills are needed and appreciated.
You can sign up for service hours here! Whatever your abilities or interests are, we welcome your efforts with gratitude. Do you have an idea or suggestion not listed? Please reach out to the Community Liaison at community@bvwaldorf.org to chat about it!
