Ivy Kapaun– Kindergarten Teacher 2025-26

With over two decades of dedicated experience in childcare and education, Ms. Ivy Kapaun has cultivated a deep understanding of child development from infancy through adolescence. Much of Ivy’s experience is with Kindergarten-aged children. Her expertise spans diverse settings, including homes and schools, where she has created safe, secure, and nurturing environments. Ivy’s approach is rooted in a holistic philosophy, emphasizing the interconnectedness of intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Ivy believes in empowering children to reach their full potential by inspiring a love of learning and nurturing their compassion and integrity through developmentally based practices.

As a classroom teacher for over a decade, Ivy has cultivated a deep appreciation for play-based learning and its transformative impact on child development. Her teaching views align closely with the holistic and developmental principles of Waldorf education. She believes in fostering creativity, imagination, and a love of learning through artistic expression and meaningful experiences. Ivy is highly motivated and committed to pursuing Waldorf Teacher Training – she will begin this summer. Ivy’s artistic teaching style aligns harmoniously with the Waldorf educational philosophy. She believes in nurturing each child’s spirit through creative exploration and expression, fostering an environment where they can thrive both intellectually and emotionally. Her effective collaborations with colleagues and ability to communicate transparently with parents has been instrumental in creating her supportive learning communities to date.

Together with the K-8 and Early Childhood faculty and BVWS mentor and coach, Ivy is excited to provide an exceptional Waldorf Kindergarten program here at BVWS. Ivy is drawn to our mission of honoring diverse traditions while nurturing what is essentially human within each child. Her organizational skills ensure that kindergarten lessons are thoughtfully crafted, providing students with meaningful experiences that resonate beyond the classroom. Ivy is passionate about implementing a rich, cross-curricular academic program that integrates art, music, drama, handwork, and movement. Her focus is on providing a consistent, guiding presence that supports students’ academic, social, and moral development, recognizing education as an art of awakening the inherent potential within each child. She understands the importance of the whole child: integrating academics with artistic and practical skills.
